Although Christianity first came to China as early as AD 635, it was only a little more than 100 years ago that God sent American missionaries to Jessica Wang’s hometown in North China. This eventually led to Jessica’s whole family accepting Jesus as their Savior. Jessica’s mother used to ride her bike from village to village, sharing the Gospel and praying for her children to love and serve God as she went. God answered her prayers, and in 1994 Jessica accepted Christ and felt God’s calling on her life. Although there were years of struggle, God was faithful and allowed Jessica to attend a seminary in China and to serve—alongside her husband, Luke—in ministering to university students.
God then provided a way for them to come to the U.S. to become better equipped. Jessica and Luke graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary, and Jessica also received a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During this time, God really affirmed their passion for the Great Commission through ministry to international students, as well as new immigrant communities, guiding Jessica into partnership as a full-time missionary with ISI: International Students, Inc.
As part of the Stonebriar family, Jessica and Luke live in a rapidly growing, diverse community. God has brought ever-increasing numbers of people to DFW from places like India, China, South Korea and Japan, making up more than 25% of the population. Many thousands of these are students at UTD and UNT, many of whom have never heard the Gospel. What a wonderful opportunity to share God’s love with them! Jessica and Luke are so grateful for Stonebriar’s heart for missions and their willingness to embrace the opportunity to partner in reaching the world’s lost while they are right here in our North Texas cities. Jessica and Luke are excited about partnering with volunteers from Stonebriar and warmly welcome you to join them in reaching out to these international communities with God’s love.
Hobbies and Interests: Jessica and Luke like reading, traveling, and playing board games together. Luke is a photographer, so he and their son, Aaron, enjoy taking and editing photos and videos. Their daughter, Anna, loves art.
