The Body of Christ must be a healthy blend of unity and diversity. This requires us to be nonjudgmental, greathearted members of God’s forever family, who refuse to force others into our mold.
If we took our cues from Romans 7, we could think we’re doomed to a life of struggle and defeat. But in Romans 8 we learn of a power within us that makes living above the drag of defeat a possibility.
Even though we know and love Christ and have God’s Spirit at work within us, prompting us to do what is right, we still do wrong. Why, if we’re not short on sincerity, do we still blow it?
It’s one thing to be saved by grace, but it’s something else entirely to live by grace. We all must learn the balance of enjoying the freedom we have in Christ without abusing it.
This continuation of last week’s message once again stresses the importance of living in the freedom we have in Christ, rather than being enslaved by sin, under guilt, shame, fear, and defeat.
