Belong

Together Is Better

What is the Church? Is it a building we frequent on Sundays? Is it an event with sermons and songs? First and foremost, the church is a people—the people of God! In the New Testament, we are described as God’s children, adopted into His family, and members of His household. All to say, we are more than a club, an event, and a social gathering. We are a family, rooted in truth, who belong to Christ. And as a family, we get to do life together as we represent Him in the world! Come this Sunday to our family gathering. We’d love you to belong to God together with us.

Love Others

Together Is Better

Jesus explains the greatest commandment in day-to-day life with other people in Luke 10:25–37. He glues loving God with loving others. For Jesus, they’re inseparable! The parable of the Good Samaritan shows us how we love our neighbor as people who claim to love God with our all, all, all, all. The Good Samaritan shows us that Jesus-desired love for others is not restricted to those who deserve love or will love us back. The one who loves—at personal cost, self-sacrifice, without hesitation or limits—is the one who loves others out of love for God. Join us as we explore what it means to love others in a way that displays the glory of God!

Love God

Together Is Better

Last week, we explored God’s vision for the church. It is to make known the Glory of God. This week, we begin to focus our attention on how to do that. According to Jesus, we glorify God when we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength—that is, with our all. In Mark 12:28–44, Jesus teaches us that the greatest commandment is to love God fully and completely. And He directs us as to how that is expressed in daily life. Love for God emerges as loyalty to God’s Son, Jesus. God sees love toward Him not in fake displays of religious devotion but rather in genuine, sacrificial living—that is, with our all. Join us as we grow in understanding how God’s vision for the local church gets traction in our lives.

The Glory of God

Together Is Better

God’s eternal purpose has always been to display His glory and wisdom to all creation. He chose the church to be a vessel to make this known. In Ephesians 3:10–11, we see that through the church, God’s manifold wisdom is revealed—not only to the world around us but even all the way out to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms. Join us as we explore why the church exists in the plan of God. Together, we’ll see that the church is not just a building . . . or a gathering . . . or an event in the week. It is more. We are more. We are a living testament to the greatness and glory of our God.

Two Kings. One Savior, Christ, and Lord.

One Churchwide Service

Among other things, Luke’s nativity story compares and contrasts Caesar Augustus with Jesus. Augustus was at the height of his power and reign when Jesus is born. He was considered the Savior, the Worshipped One (Augustus), and Lord, as in, a son of God. Luke knows very well how Romans—including Roman Christians like Theophilus—would have heard the declaration that Jesus is the true Savior, Christ (Chosen One), and Lord (son of God). Ultimately, the Greatest of All Time kings is Jesus! So, Theophilus, early Christians, and Christians today can stand firm in the faith and loyal to Jesus in an anti-Jesus world!
